The Hygienist's Role in Patient Education, Internal Marketing, and Case Acceptance - AAP Module 1

Credits:

2

Course Overview:

The module focuses on how changing economic trends are impacting dentistry and the key role that registered dental hygienists play in educating patients, attracting new patients through internal marketing and increasing case acceptance. The module gives dental hygienists critical communication tools, practice management know-how, and astute verbal skills. Dental hygienists can use this module content in combination with their educational background and experience to educate patients about optimal oral health. Practices that define the dental hygienist’s role broadly as a professional colleague and educator are well positioned to increase profitability by creating patient interest and demand in all that dentistry has to offer in terms of comprehensive care.

Educational Objectives:

  • Educate patients about oral health as it relates to general health.
  • Apply principles discussed in the module to improve marketing.
  • Use their expertise to encourage patients to accept comprehensive treatment plans

Format:

The American Association of Periodontics (AAP) Dental Hygiene Study Club initiative put together resources, such as video modules, background materials, template resources, and best practice tips and tricks, to be used by its members to connect with and educate dental hygienists.

Dr. Schwartz, an AAP member, will play video module 1 (webinar) by Dr. Schwab. The video module is 1hr long. There will be 2 breaks during which the material will be discussed and questions answered.
